Susan Davis joined the staff of On Second Thought as the Executive Producer after half a decade running Better Broadcasts, a consulting firm focused on radio and podcast development, media coaching and content production. As part of her work with Better Broadcasts, she spent half of 2017 traveling the world as a cultural diplomat for the Office of cultural and educational exchanges at The US State Department. In her long career in journalism, she has edited and produced for Marketplace Radio, All Things Considered and Talk of the Nation. She was the Senior Producer of the award winning program, “The State of Things,” on North Carolina Public Radio/WUNC from 2004 through 2012. Her poetry collection, “Gathering Sound” won the Rhea and Seymour Gorsline Poetry Prize in 2005. She’s the co-editor of the anthology, “Searching for Mary Poppins,” and has contributed to several essay collections as well as literary journals like, “The Paris Review,” and “The Sun."
