Today on “Political Rewind,” we talk with Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona. He’s one of the very few Republicans on Capitol Hill who has been consistent in criticizing President Trump’s demeanor in office.
He was a “never-Trumper” from the early days of the GOP primaries all the way through the general election and beyond. Now, he’s written “Conscience of a Conservative,” a book in which he bemoans the fact that the Republican Party has strayed from its conservative principles and embraced populism. Flake has earned scorn from Trump, who has said he will work to unseat Flake in next year’s Arizona GOP primary.
Then, we look in depth at the president’s rally in Phoenix, Arizona. It was a wild and raucous affair in which Trump extended his condemnation of the media, vowed to shut down government if he doesn’t get funding for the border wall in the budget and suggested he will soon pardon Sherriff Joe Arpaio, the Arizona sheriff now serving time for disregarding a federal judge’s order on detention of undocumented immigrants.
And, we talk about Hillary Clinton’s new memoir of the 2016 campaign. We’ll play clips of her reading of the audio book she recorded.
