Today on “Political Rewind,” it’s the LAST weekend of political attack ads (until the next election). As we count down the final hours of the contentious, cantankerous, and combative 6th District race, we chew over the candidates' last-ditch attempts to sway voters.
In other political news, Georgia's State Rep. Tommy Benton is removed from a leadership role because he sent out a link saying slavery was not the cause of Civil War; this is not the first time Benton has run afoul of modern sensibilities with his positions. Also, President Trump makes a trip to Miami to announce the roll-back of several Obama-era moves to normalize relations with Cuba. Trump's speech was greeted with much acclaim by Miami's ex-pat Cuban community, but what do his proclamations mean for Georgia farmers?
But the bigger Trump story today is another byproduct of the president's fondness for tweeting. He says he's now under investigation for obstruction of justice. Trump calls it a “witch hunt,” where is the story going next? In light of this week's shooting, some have expressed the need to dial back the rhetoric but how realistic is that in this day and age?
