GOP Plan To Repeal And Replace Obamacare Fails

Jul 28, 2017

Today on “Political Rewind,” the effort to repeal and replace Obamacare collapses in the wee hours, after Sen. John McCain delivers the coup de grace and votes NO. Was it payback for that campaign crack when Trump dissed McCain for having been captured during the Vietnam War? What does this legislative loss bode for Senate Leader Mitch McConnell? And is there a prayer that a return to bipartisanship may be borne of this event?

The panel looks at the growing willingness of the GOP to stand up to Trump, including Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Sen. Ben Sasse (Nebraska), and even the "beleaguered" Attorney General Jeff Sessions who tells Fox News' Tucker Carlson he's not stepping down but will comply if Trump asks him to do so. A number of Republicans have also come out in opposition to Trump's tweets saying the transgender individuals would no longer be allowed to serve in the military.

Also on the table today, a discussion about Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, and her attempt to build a coalition of white Georgians and people of color. How will this play out in the primary as she faces another female candidate, Stacey Evans.
