Ways to Connect

Atlanta’s presence in the hip-hop scene has been well established for many years with the likes of OutKast, Ludacris and Soulja Boy making the city’s artists into household names.

Even if you know hip-hop, you might not know this name: Cam Kirk.

I went to downtown Atlanta to learn more about Kirk and how hip-hop looks from behind the lens.

A3C

Some of the biggest names hip-hop will perform at this week's A3C Festival and Conference in Atlanta.  But this event isn't just about music.  Also on the agenda: discussions about mental health and moving civil rights protests beyond social media. Two women will lead the dialogue.  Dina Marto is owner and founder of Twelve Music Studios and Ashley Reid is founder the social justice group "The People Assembly."

Explore Georgia

“100 Plates Locals Love” is a list of the best dishes served by Georgia restaurants, as voted on by people across the state.

My colleagues over at GPB TV’s "Georgia Traveler" traveled all over Georgia trying these plates.

Since I never want to be left out, I decided to bring a few plates into the studio to taste test.

Joining me is the list’s curator Atlanta-based Chef Jennifer Booker.

Over 100,000 concertgoers are expected to visit Piedmont Park for Music Midtown this weekend to hear headliners like The Killers, Beck and Deadmau5.

After years of expensive high-profile superstars like Drake, Elton John, and John Mayer, this year's festival has cut a day of performances and features a roster filled with lesser-known performers.

Americans have been starting small businesses for centuries.

So why does it seems like every new business is suddenly a “startup?”

To unpack the jargon, Rickey Bevington spoke with Cassius Butts, Region IV Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

You may be familiar with the popular ABC show "Shark Tank," where entrepreneurs from across the country try to get "sharks" like Kevin O’Leary to invest in their companies, but you might be wondering: What is a pitch, and what makes one successful?

A growing number of companies in the startup scene around Atlanta are ditching traditional offices for coworking spaces. Coworking spaces are shared spaces for businesses and startups with varying needs to work alongside each other.

How To Speak Startup

Startup culture has its own language. Many of the most popular terms tossed around sound like what Æon Flux and Uncle Pennybags would call their illegitimate love children. Oh Mr. Monoply, what has your lust wrought upon this plane where Strunk and White's nightmares meet Dr. Moreau's dreams?

Legendary Atlanta restaurant Manuel’s Tavern re-opens this weekend after months of renovations.

Manuel Maloof founded it in 1956 because, in his words,“Where else can a guy who makes $50 a week and a guy doing $200,000 a year sit next to each other and find out what each other is thinking?"

For the past six decades, politicians, journalists, college students and families have intermingled at this Poncey-Highlands watering hole.

Maloof’s son, Brian Maloof, now runs the Tavern and ahead of the opening, he talks about the bar's past, present and future.
